Aquaporins channel water through membranes

The main aim of our research is to understand the molecular details and physiological roles of the multitude of water channel-like proteins present in plants and animals. In addition we have recently started to explore the structure and molecular function of pain receptors from animals, i.e. transient receptor potential (TRP) ion channels, and their activation by temperature and various ligands.
