PhD program
The PhD program at the Department of Biophysical Chemistry prepares students for careers in academia, industry, or the public sector by expanding their knowledge of biophysical chemistry and related disciplines, by training them in the use of modern scientific methods, and by developing their capacities for critical analysis, creative thinking, problem solving, project planning, information management, teaching, and communication.
The PhD program comprises advanced courses, independent research, research seminars, undergraduate teaching, and participation in other departmental activities. The program is tailored to the educational needs and research interests of the individual student. The individual study plan is appraised and updated annually.
The PhD program is usually completed in five years, the nominal duration of a PhD scholarship. Typically, the student devotes one year to courses, three years to research (including seminars, conferences, etc), and one year to teaching and other departmental responsibilities.

Postdoc positions
Postdoctoral investigators are an essential ingredient in the Department’s research. If you would like to join us as a Postdoctoral researcher, please contact the appropriate group leader, enclosing your CV and contact details for two references. From time to time we advertise Postdoctoral positions, but we welcome applications from highly motivated Postdocs at any time. Postdoctoral fellowships come from many sources, including your home country, the European Union, various Swedish agencies such as the Swedish Research Council, the Wenner-Gren Foundations or the Swedish Institute.
